The respiratory system consisting of specific organs and structures used for gas exchange in animals and plants called lungs. Humans and Animals exchange gases through lungs.

Gas exchange in the lungs occurs in millions of small air sacs called atria in birds and alveoli in mammals and reptiles. These small air sacs have a very rich blood supply.

These air sacs work with the external environment through a system of airways, or hollow tubes, called the trachea, having branches in the middle of the chest into the two main bronchi.

How Your Lungs Work?

Lungs bring fresh oxygen into your body and remove the carbon dioxide and other waste gases.

When you breath in you use the muscles of your rib cage especially the diaphragm. Your diaphragm tightens and flattens, helps you to suck air into your lungs and to breathe out.
